Documents

Product Overview

MOLYKOTE® 5 Compound is a unique, silicone-based, greaselike paste engineered for long-term protection of high-current electrical switches and insulators.  This compound contains inert amorphous silica filler combined with dimethyl and phenylmethyl silicone fluids. This combination gives this specialty lubricant oxidation and moisture resistance, making it virtually inert and nonvolatile.

MOLYKOTE® 5 Compound exhibits nonconductive and water-resistance performance, allowing for extended service life compared to conventional compound technologies. MOLYKOTE® 5 Compound helps reduce the frequency of arcing or flashovers in insulators and bushings and is compatible with a broad range of rubbers, metals, and plastics.

Applications

MOLYKOTE® 5 Compound is a versatile electrical protective coating that can be used for a variety of equipment types and applications, including the following:

High-current insulators and bushings
High-voltage equipment and systems
Static and dynamic O-ring seals
Insulator threads and bolts
Jacketed control cables
Contacts and band-tightening fasteners and screws
Plastic, metal, and rubber surfaces
